Budding sportsmen from Anuppur interact with star players of Dabang Delhi Pro Kabaddi team
New Delhi, 24 February, 2016: Continuing with the spirit of partnering with Dabang Delhi pro Kabaddi Club in The Start Sports Pro Kabaddi League, Hindustan Power today provided a platform for the local youth from Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh, to interact with the players of the Dabang Delhi team at New Delhi.
As many as 10 budding young sportsmen from Anuppur district representing state, district and national level across various disciplines met the star players of Dabang Delhi team to learn more about the game, sporting culture as well as way and means to promote the spirit of sportsmanship.
Commenting on the occasion, Ravi Arya, President – Thermal, Hindustan Power said, “We have been providing various opportunities for the youth from Annuppur to enable them to fast-track their livelihood in profession of their choice. As part of the same and also understanding the increasing popularity of Kabaddi as a sporting discipline and a profession, we are keen to channelize the youth of Anuppur towards this sport. Through the interaction, the youth will not only learn about the art of playing Kabaddi, but more importantly how to make it to the top and convert a hobby to a profession. ”
Jagnnath Rathour, a state level Kabaddi player of Madhya Pradesh said, “I was very keen to understand and be part of the Pro Kabaddi however I was not sure of the way to achieve the same. Now, thanks to this initiative I know how to go to about doing the same. Soon, I would be able to compete and play with the best. ”
The interaction forms part of the company’s larger plans to promote development of local community in Anuppur where Hindustan Power is developing 2,520 MegaWatt (MW) of coal-based thermal power project. The company is currently implementing the first phase of 1200 MW (2X600 MW) through its Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) – MB Power Madhya Pradesh Limited (MBPMPL).
