Thermal Power


The thermal arm of Hindustan Power is focused on generating power through coal- fired power stations in India.

Moving ahead through high investments and a definite raw coal supply , the company is all set to install several high power producing thermal power plant that will positively impact the power deficit in the country.

The thermal arm is developing projects with a combined generation capacity of about 4000 MW in the states of Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh. Also the company’s thermal Power project at Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh (2520 MW) is one of the fastest developing projects and its first unit has been commissioned in May 2015. The commissioning of second Unit (600 MW) scheduled to be achieved in early part of 2016.

These thermal power plants are expected to help generate developmental opportunities and address energy shortage in the region.

Foundation Objectives

Thermal Energy is all set to become a major source of electricity specially stated in the 12th fifth year plan that there is a capacity addition of 88,537 MW and a staggering high 81% needs to be fulfilled through thermal energy.

Hindustan Thermalprojects Ltd. was established in 2008 with the objective to foraying into thermal power sector to play an active role in the country’s growth story. Coal thermal power generation will be the most critical source of India’s energy requirements over the next few years and HPPPL is utilizing its complete potential to help realize the requirement.

The 2520 MW coal based Thermal Powerproject in Anuppur district, Madhya Pradesh is being executed in two phases as follows:

  • Phase - 1 : 1200 MW (2X600 MW)
  • Phase - 2 : 1320 MW (2X660 MW)

  • Strong in-house Operations and Maintenance competence having enriched experience and skill-set, being trained by OEMs for operational phase
  • Implementing productivity of all the equipment with a rigorous three-tier Quality Control Check mechanism (during manufacturing, dispatch and erection stage) to ensure adaptability and longevity in operations, by international standard thermal power plant.
  • Highly sophisticated thermal power plant construction and erection process through deployment of state of the art mechanized equipment.
  • Direct Connectivity of the Project to the National Grid to enhance reliability, economy and minimize system losses.
